“刚进入肯思时,我总觉得自己不够优秀,甚至有些自卑。”Max回忆道。然而,作为创校生,他见证了肯思从无到有的过程,也在这里找到了属于自己的位置。肯思的校园氛围和身边的朋友们逐渐改变了他。“我的朋友们总是鼓励我尝试新事物,告诉我‘你可以做到’。正是他们的支持,让我逐渐从内向变得外向,也让我学会了如何与他人合作、如何表达自己。”

除了朋友的影响,肯思的老师们也在Max的成长中扮演了重要角色。尤其是潘老师,他的教学方式让Max印象深刻。“潘老师的课堂总是充满乐趣,他不仅传授知识,更注重培养我们的学习兴趣。他的‘学中带乐’让我在收获知识的同时,依然能保持对学习的热情。”正是这种轻松而高效的学习氛围,让Max在学术上不断突破自我。

从学业压力到自我突破:时间管理与坚持的力量

在肯思的四年,Max也经历了学业上的挑战。尤其是在期末考试期间,他需要在短时间内复习十门章节,同时兼顾日常学习和大量的练习。“那段时间,我每天复习到深夜,制定了详细的学习计划,甚至精确到每一小时的任务。”Max说道。尽管压力巨大,但他从未放弃。最终,他顺利完成了考试,并取得了令人满意的成绩。

此外,Max还利用自己的3D设计技能,参与了xuexSpark公益项目为残障儿童开发互动玩具。他和小组制作了适应性玩具,在设计过程中,他结合对称性、变换、比例缩放等数学原理,确保玩具既具备互动性,又符合儿童的需求。“这一经历让我深刻体会到科技与人文关怀的结合,也让我更加坚定了用技术为社会创造价值的信念。”Max说道。

As a founding student of KCS, Max has witnessed the school’s growth and written his own remarkable story. Over four years, he transformed from an introverted student into a confident explorer. From the lab to international stages, from model-making to AI research, he continually pushed his limits, earning offers from top universities like the University of Edinburgh, KCL,University of Toronto, and UBC. Today, let's dive into Max's journey and experience his growth at KCS.

"When I first joined KCS, I always felt like I wasn't good enough, even a bit insecure," Max recalls. However, as a founding student, he witnessed the school’s growth and found his place within it. The campus environment and his friends gradually transformed him. "My friends always encouraged me to try new things and told me, 'You can do it.' Their support helped me shift from being introverted to more outgoing, and taught me how to collaborate and express myself."

In addition to the influence of his friends, the teachers at KCS also played a key role in Max’s growth. In particular, Mr. Pan’s teaching style left a deep impression on him. "Mr. Pan’s classes are always full of fun. He not only imparts knowledge but also focuses on fostering our interest in learning. His 'learning through enjoyment' approach helped me stay passionate about learning while gaining knowledge." It was this relaxed yet efficient learning environment that allowed Max to continuously push himself academically.

During his four years at KCS, Max faced academic challenges, especially during finals when he had to review ten subjects while balancing daily studies. "I studied late into the night, with a detailed plan down to the hour," Max recalls. Despite the pressure, he succeeded in his exams and achieved great results.

"This experience taught me time management and the importance of perseverance," he reflects. His self-discipline and persistence helped him progress academically and laid a strong foundation for his university applications.

Max's interest in model-making started at a young age. From robots to car models and architectural structures, he always enjoyed hands-on projects. At KCS, he turned this passion into a long-term exploration.

In a model-making competition, Max designed and built a unique custom robot, ultimately winning the grand prize. During the process, he not only improved his design and crafting skills but also learned how to optimize structures, enhance stability, and integrate smart control through programming. "The competition made me realize that my interest is not just a personal hobby but a way to drive technological innovation," Max says.、

Additionally, Max used his 3D design skills to participate in a charity project that developed interactive toys for children with disabilities. He designed and created adaptive toys for four children, applying mathematical principles like symmetry, transformation, and scaling to ensure the toys were both interactive and tailored to the children’s needs. "This experience deeply showed me the combination of technology and human care, and strengthened my belief in using technology to create value for society," Max says.

Beyond academics, Max was a member of the KCS basketball team. Basketball was not only his passion but also a bond that deepened his friendships with his teammates. Max received his admission offer from the University of Edinburgh while returning to Chengdu from a trip to Singapore. "I was discussing my application progress with friends on the plane, and didn’t expect to get the good news right after landing," Max recalls with a smile. "The joy of that moment is unforgettable."

Max's academic and extracurricular activities were key in his application. He developed an AI-driven Snake game with peers, using neural networks and reinforcement learning. He also led a team in aerodynamics research, writing a paper. These experiences boosted both his technical skills and application materials.
