01、竞赛简介

About BBO

由英国皇家生物学会Royal Society of Biology (RSB)于1995年设立，是英国全国性最具影响力的理科竞赛之一，现由UKBC组委会独立运营，旨在吸引热爱生物领域的学生挑战自我，并选拔参加国际生物奥赛IBO的英国学霸。2024年总计有705个学校、47371名学生参赛。

The British Biology Olympiad (BBO) challenges and stimulates students with an interest in biology to expand and extend their talents.

In addition to encouraging and rewarding students in their studies, the BBO is the first stage in selecting a team to represent the UK at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO). In 2024, 705schools and 47,371students in total globally participated in the contest.

Why Join BBO

• 通常60%的参赛选手都有获奖资格，获奖几率高。
• 作为IBO选拔赛，与USABO有共通性，可以作为来年USABO的热身赛或模考练手。
• 60% of students receive a Commendation and above
• As it is designed to select team members to compete in IBO, the problems can be compared to USA Biology Olympiad (USABO. This means BBO is a good mock practice for USABO.

03、参赛资格

Eligibility

• 年龄范围广：

  年龄16-19岁的学生均可参赛，且不阻止年龄更小的选手参赛（多数参赛选手年龄在17-18岁）。

• 地域无限制：
• 全球任何地区学生都可以参赛，但没有进入国家队资格。
• Students aged 16-19 can join the contest. Whilst most students are 17-18, younger students often take part.
• Students from all types of schools and from anywhere in the world can take part.

04、适合学生

Academic Focus Areas (Recommended to Students)

• 未来计划学习生物、医学等领域、提升个人学术实力的学生。
• 计划在来年USABO取得佳绩的学生，作为热身赛或模考。
• 完成或正在学习Honors或AP Biology的有力补充。
• Interested in learning biology, medicine and other related fields for academic enrichment;
• Planning to compete in USABO;
• Preparing for Honors/AP Biology.

05、竞赛形式

Contest Format

• 线上竞赛，由负责老师监考。
• 2份试卷，各45分钟。
• 题型均为选择题。
• 题目数量每年会有浮动，两套题加起来基本控制在65-75题。
• 最终成绩为2份试卷成绩总和。
• 允许携带计算器。
• The competition consists of two, 45-minute multiple choice papers to be taken online under staff supervised exam conditions. Each paper includes about 65-75 problems each paper. The final score will be combined by the two papers' scores.
