一．轻重得当，结构匀称
在GW的教学中，文章整体性和架构完整是从G3开始反复强调的重中之重的教学重点，同时也是各类标化考试中评分准则之一。VAS老师认为在Essay写作中，结构先行，非常注重日常训练中强化学生的结构意识。
这个是非常经典和标准的essay总分总结构。总(introduction）,分(body)，总(conclusion）每个段落的结构都有非常严苛的要求。

Clear Structure and Organization – the essay has clear introduction, body, and conclusion, which is essential for any piece of writing. Our student was able to introduce the topic of exams, highlight the aspects that need to be addressed, and ended the essay with a call for change. The Great Writing books do an excellent job of teaching students not only the importance of a well-structured and organized essay, but also help them improve these skills through plenty of writing practice.
清晰的结构和组织——这篇文章有清晰的引言、正文和结论，这对于任何一篇文章来说都是必不可少的。他能够介绍关于考试是否公平这个主题，强调需要解决的方面，并以呼吁改变来结尾。《Great Writing》不仅教会学生结构完整、组织紧凑的重要性，而且还帮助他们通过大量的写作练习提高这些技能。

二、凤头豹尾，开合呼应
正如咱们古人作文凤头提出作文六字诀：凤头、猪肚、豹尾。“凤头”是说作品的开头要像凤凰的头那样秀气、精彩、引人入胜；开头为内容和中心服务，应简洁、利落，不拖沓。而“豹尾”是说作品的结尾要像豹子的尾巴那样有力、刚健。
而在英语写作中，也有同样的追求。开头一定需要吸引到读者的注意力和引发读者的思考。GW中有对于如何开头， 如何下hook,以及hook的类型和举例；同时也强调在结尾段重述观点，总结观点论点，做到有说服力和号召力

Engaging Introduction – the student chose to open his essay with a thought-provoking rhetorical question, making the readers think about the issue he is addressing.
‘Great Writing’books do an excellent job teaching students effective essay hooks such as starting with hypothetical questions, interesting facts, and shocking statements, which all help capture the readers’ attention.
引人入胜的引言——学生选择用一个发人深省的反问来开始他的文章，让读者思考他要解决的问题。《Great Writing》在教学生有效的论文技巧方面做得非常出色，例如开篇使用假设性问题、有趣的事实和令人震惊的陈述，这些都有助于吸引读者的注意力。
Call to Action/Change – Not only does the conclusion summarize the main points of the essay, it ends with a call to change, giving the essay a sense of urgency.

三、观点鲜明、逻辑有序
文章“腹中”要内容充实、丰盈，层次感、逻辑性强，让人一口气看得下来，而不是平铺直叙或杂乱无章的罗列。不谋而合， GW也强调文章的body部分应做到论据扎实、逻辑通畅。

Logical Progression of Ideas – something I as a teacher am especially proud to see. The student sequenced his arguments in a logical order, which gave the essay a good flow and made it easy to follow.
观点的逻辑展开——作为一名教师，我对此学生的这种能力感到特别自豪。学生按照逻辑顺序排列他的论点，这使文章流畅自然并且易于理解。
Use of Examples – the essay provides us with specific examples to strengthen the writer’s main point and make the topic more relatable to the reader.

While the above essay presented us with plenty of well thought out arguments and strong ideas, there are still areas which can be improved.
虽然上面的文章为我们提供了大量经过深思熟虑的论点和强有力的论证，但仍然存在可以改进的地方。
Clarity in Arguments – while the student presented us with strong arguments to support his point, the connection between the arguments could be clearer. For example, when transitioning from discussing entrance exams to the one-size-fits-all nature of exams, the ideas should be linked more specifically in order to better get the point across.
Students can improve upon these acquiring skills from the Great Writing book such as learning and practicing idea coherence, which will result in their arguments forming a logical, coherent unit.
论点可以更清晰——虽然学生向我们提出了强有力的论据来支持他的观点，但论点之间的联系应该可以更加清晰。例如，当从讨论入学考试过渡到一刀切的考试性质时，这些点应该能更具体地联系起来，以便更好地表达观点。学生可以从《Great Writing》学习中提高这些技能，例如学习和练习思想连贯性，这将使他们的论点形成一个逻辑、连贯的整体。
The student also made some phrasing and word choices which can be improved upon by broadening their vocabulary using the book’s vocabulary builder.
措辞和用词可以更丰富----也可以通过使用《Great Writing》的词汇生成器来扩大词汇量，从而精进这些措辞和单词选择。
