SAT语法同位语的标点符号这么用才对！

想考SAT语法高分，那是一个标点符号的使用也不能放过。

SAT语法部分，“同位语标点符号的使用规则”是非常高频的考点。23年3月SAT考试，仅module1就考了3道同位语的使用，可见该考点有多么受出题人的看重。

知识点本身其实并不难，但很多学生依然会在判断的时候出现一些小失误。

今天，我们邀请到机构SAT教研组名师李清泉老师，来聊一聊如何快速精准地判断两个名词同位语之间的标点符号。

01、同位语是什么？

首先，什么是同位语(appositive)？

简单来说，同位语通常就是一个名词或名词性短语，出现在另一个名词或代词前后，用来解释说明那个名词。

例如：My brother's car,a sporty red convertible with bucket seats,is the envy of my friends.划线部分就是同位语。

上文的my brother’s car和a sporty red convertible with bucket seats之间是有逗号的，但还有很多情况下，两者间我们是不加标点符号的。

那么什么情况下加，什么情况下不加呢？

02、怎么判断同位语标点用法

同位语用法的判断规则，有以下两条：

01当前面被解释的名词太宽泛时，同位语和被解释的名词之间不需要加逗号，例如：

The popular USpresidentJohn Kennedywas known for his eloquent and inspirational speeches.

这里president与John Kennedy 之间是不加逗号的，因为John Kennedy是核心信息，没有该信息我们根本不知道是哪个总统。02如果前面被解释的词本身就很具体，去掉同位语不会极大的改变句意，那么就需要加标点符号，例如：

John Kennedy,the popular US president, was known for his eloquent and inspirational speeches.

我们来看两道例题：

1.The person chosen for this task, digital artist, Eldar Zakirovpainted the cats in the style traditionally used by portrait artists.Which choice completes the textso that it conforms to the conventions of Standard English?

A) NO CHANGE

B) task, digital artist, Eldar Zakirov

C) task digital artist Eldar Zakirov

D) task, digital artist Eldar Zakirov

解释：我们首先来判断Digital artist与 Elder Zakirov 之间的标点符号。Digital artist是一个宽泛的名词，没有后面的人名，我们根本不知道是哪一位艺术家，所以这两者之间不加标点，排除A、B。

现在来判断 the person chosen for this task与digital artist Eldar Zakirov，前一个名词短语很明显看出是为这项任务选定的一个人，是具体的，所以与 digital artist Eldar Zakirov 之间要加逗号，答案选D。

2. Writer Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s love of short fiction began when she read a collection of Edgar Allan Poe’s stories as a child, and she would develop into a prolific short story writer herself, publishing pieces like “Ahuizotl” (2015) and “Water” (2007). Yet she’s best known as novelist, in part due to her ______ Gothic (2020) earning a spot on the New York Times Best Sellers list.Which choice completes the text so thatit conforms to the conventions of Standard English?

A)novel (Mexican

B)novel Mexican

C)novel: Mexican

解释：Her novel 是一个宽泛的名词，因为这位小说家写过多本小说，如果没有后面的小说名，我们根本不知道是哪一本，所以这两个同位语之间不需要加标点符号。答案选B。

同位语的标点符号使用虽然看似简单，但在SAT考试中却是一个常见的考点，这样的“细节”大家已经要小心把握！
