对于购物来说，网购时无法像线下亲眼看到或是直接试用实际的产品，文字、图片和视频都可能误导甚至欺骗消费者，进而导致消费者买到与预期不符的东西。通过网络工作可能会遇到在办公室没有的各种干扰，比如家中小孩子的吵闹，或是当事人在缺乏监督的情况下自控力不足，进而导致效率低下。同事之间因为无法见面也会缺少交流沟通，影响团队合作的效率。依赖网络沟通，可能会使得人们忽略现实中陪伴的重要性，比如家人间一起吃饭、游玩或做些别的集体活动，反而让人们产生疏离感。
