Money gifts are currently valued higher than thoughtfully chosen gifts. Giving a gift of cash may be a simple and secure way to select presents, but I find it unappealing because it fails to fulfil the ritual's intended purpose.

Several factors have increased people's willingness to give money as a gift. Firstly, money is recognised everywhere, making it less likely that unnecessary gifts will be sent and lowering waste. A gift that was poorly chosen, such as a figurine or an unfavorite perfume bottle, may be ignored or even discarded by the person receiving it. Money, on the other hand, would be a better gift because it allows recipients to pursue their own personal interests. Furthermore, giving money as a present is convenient. When it comes to buying presents for a variety of occasions spread out over the year, it is time-consuming to consider the requirements and preferences of each individual recipient. Rather than going through all of this trouble, simply sending a red envelope with a lovely "congratulations" card is preferable.

However, the disadvantages of giving money outweigh the apparent benefits. The gift's versatility and ease of use prevent it from fostering a deeper connection between the giver and recipient. Compared to thoughtful gifts in which the giver has taken the time to find the "perfect" present and has considered the recipient's personality and hobbies, giving a red packet requires very little effort. Therefore, giving money may be interpreted as a lack of interest in preparing a thoughtful gift or knowing what the recipient really wants. As a result, the gift-giver may be interpreted by the recipient as uninterested in their life and unwilling to develop a deeper relationship.

Money is a safe and convenient way to be given as a gift, but it is a negative trend because it lacks thoughtfulness and care. Rather than sending a random red packet, I believe people should take a few hours out of their busy schedules to think about and present the perfect gift.
