In different cultures, people celebrate different festivals. From my perspective, I think that the Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most intriguing festivals in China.
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanwu Festival, is the day in honor of a great patriotic poet named Qu Yuan. The festival is celebrated everywhere in China, and it is the time for people to hold dragon boat races and eat Zongzi, a small dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in leaves.
For me, I regard the Dragon Boat Festival as an interesting one because of the fascinating story about its origin and the exciting activities on that day. According to the legend, Qu Yuan drowned himself in the Miluo River. The boat racing originated from the attempt to search for his body, and Zongzi were originally thrown into the river to prevent the fishes from eating Qu Yuan's body. Since then, these activities have evolved into fixed traditions and have remained unbroken for centuries.
Above all, the Dragon Boat Festival is a meaningful and interesting festival in my country.
