A painting you like
IELTS SPEAKING PART 2
各位小伙伴好!今天我们一起来看看这个季度轮换进来的Part 2新题A painting you like。
It’s a landscape painting, roughly the size of a magazine. You can see a peaceful blue lake surrounded by lush green forests. In the distance, snow-capped mountains look sacred and mysterious. The water is so clear that you can see the shadows of the mountains, the trees and the sky in it.

It’s a caricature of myself. This painting always makes my friends laugh out loud. It's because I look hilarious in the painting. My smile is broad, and I have two buck teeth. The cheeks on my face appear extremely chubby, but my face is actually relatively thin. My mouth, nose, and eyes are also distorted and exaggerated. I bet you will be amused if you see the painting.

It’s a decorative painting. It’s abstract, which makes it hard for me to interpret what it’s really about. Anyway, it’s beautiful. It’s drawn with rich colours and basic shapes, like squares, ovals, rectangles, triangles, and such. Sometimes, you may notice a young lady sitting in a chair, but when you observe it from a different angle, you may find a tree-eyed monster staring at you.
基础版:
It’s a decorative painting. It’s a bit difficult to say what it’s really about. Anyway, it’s beautiful. This painting consists of rich colours and some basic shapes, but strangely, such a combination creates unexpected results. For example, you may notice a young lady in the middle, but then, when you look at it again, you may see a monster with three large eyes.

I first saw this painting at a local gallery. In fact, I was barely keen on art, but two months ago, my bestie, a big fan of contemporary art, invited me to an exhibition at a newly opened art gallery in our town. So, I went with her. When we arrived, quite a few people were queuing up to get in. “I didn’t expect this exhibition to be that popular,” I said casually. Then, as we got in, we ambled around the exhibition hall while happily chattering away. But honestly speaking, at first, I wasn’t very attracted to these paintings coz I found them hard to understand. However, as we stepped into a large exhibition room on the second floor, I was suddenly drawn to a painting.

As I strolled along the street, I was drawn to a booth surrounded by a gaggle of tourists. I managed to get to the front and found it was a street artist who was drawing a caricature for a little boy. Behind the man hung dozens of his paintings. He seemed undisturbed by onlookers, totally immersed in his work. When he finished, everyone marvelled with “Wow.” Indeed, the painting he had just finished was incredible. So, when the little boy left, I approached him and asked him how much he would charge for a caricature like that. Luckily, it wasn’t pricey, so I paid him to draw one for me.

It’s a gift from my best friend Yoyo. Last year, some days before my birthday, she invited me for dinner. When we finished, she whipped out a small package from her canvas bag and handed it to me. By the time I unpacked it, I was too surprised for words. It’s a drawing of my favourite idol.
