Nowadays our TV and computer screen are occupied by the news of all kinds of stars, positive and negative.  One notable thing is that these stars, even when they do not set a positive example, are still admired by many young people. To my mind, this is absolutely bad.

Admiring those media stars who have made themselves famous by showing off their glamorous appearance or wealth may result in many problems. One of them is that young people will try to imitate the lifestyle of their stars, thinking that success is all about appearance and money, and consequently, they will forget that true happiness resides in the richness of our inner world and in the contributions we make to other people.

Another problem is, in order to look as glamorous as their stars, some young people will spend large sums of money doing cosmetic surgery, which in the long run may be harmful to their health. What is worse, some of them may even choose to commit crimes to get the money necessary to make them as attractive as the stars they admire.

Sports stars, if they do not behave properly, may also negatively influence young people. Maradona, who died not long ago, is just a case in point. Arguably the best football player in the world, he did not set a good example to young people by taking drugs and shooting journalists, giving his young admirers a false impression that a star can do anything regardless of the law and moral standards.

In conclusion, there may be one reason or another why stars are admired, but admiring those who do not set a good example is harmful to young people both physically, psychologically, and socially.
