肠道细菌代谢组在结直肠癌中的作用
研究背景及内容
我最喜欢的演员之一是查德威克·博斯曼。他在2020年死于结直肠癌(CRC)后,我决定开始了解这种疾病。期间我发现研究表明这种类型的癌症与肠道微生物群之间存在联系。
肠道是人体的胃肠系统,而肠道微生物组是生活在那里的微生物群落。它包括多种类型的细菌,以及其他一些有机体。现有的文献表明:肠道微生物组可以影响健康的各个方面。于是我想进一步了解肠道细菌产生的化学物质是如何影响CRC细胞生长的。

我和我的双胞胎妹妹艾玛很喜欢骑马。有一天,我发现我们的一匹马在长途骑行后呼吸困难,之后教练告诉我们这匹马患有哮喘。
哮喘是一种身体呼吸道的慢性疾病,马和人都可能患有这种疾病。哮喘发作时,气道会发炎和变窄。我便很担心如果一匹马在外出骑马时出现严重哮喘,会发生什么。于是我们对现有的治疗马类哮喘发作的不同方法进行了研究,包括注射和带口罩的喷雾器等等。

花瓣开放的黄金比例与计算机内存的管理
研究背景及内容
通常计算机不会均匀地将数据输入内存,所以随着时间的推移,大量使用的电池会损坏,必须更换内存。如果我们可以更好地管理内存可以平衡内存的磨损并减少浪费。
几年前,我在艺术课上了解到黄金比例。如果两个数字有黄金比率,那么两个数字之和除以较大的数字等于较大的数字除以较小的数字。黄金比例在自然界中也有体现。例如,有多少朵花从上一朵花长出约137.5度的新花瓣。我想知道这个概念是否有助于平衡计算机内存的使用,进行了这个研究。
以上是比较有代表性的几个课题!从这些课题中,我们不难发现他们的研究基本来自于学生在生活中的细节,老师也认为这就是中学生科研的乐趣所在:来源于生活,高于生活。
今年还有许多非常有趣的课题,也不禁让人期待起最后的决赛!
博通大师赛
博通大师赛(Broadcom Master)是由美国科学与公众社团和Broadcom基金会联合创办、面向6-8年级美国学生的科学赛事。它还是再生元国际与工程大赛 ISEF的初中生版。
和 ISEF一样,博通也无法直接参加,学生需要从地区赛中脱颖而出,才能拿到前往赛场的门票。
去年共有来自15个州、28所学校的1841名学生参赛,他们通过地区赛的层层挑战,闯进博通决赛的舞台。最高荣誉Rising Star Award的获得者将有机会参观 ISEF。
