Social Justice Awards 2023 Fall 正式开启！

Social Justice Awards是由青少年非营利组织Social Justice Watcher (SJW) 所举办的公益项目，旨在通过鼓励青少年进行写作、演讲与艺术创作，引导青少年关注社会不平等现象，促使青年人思考并通过自身行动改变社会。

在往届活动中，我们收到来自中国、新加坡、美国、英国、加拿大、荷兰、瑞士、日本、泰国等地区360多所中学，超过2100名学生的作品。多位优秀参与者被哈佛大学、耶鲁大学、哥伦比亚大学、斯坦福大学、芝加哥大学、西北大学、布朗大学、康奈尔大学、牛津大学等世界名校录取。

此次活动，我们邀请了来自耶鲁大学、普林斯顿大学、复旦大学、哈佛大学、芝加哥艺术学院、布尔日国立高等艺术学院、中国美术学院、天津美术学院的教授、演讲教练、设计师与艺术家担当本次活动的特邀专家。

活动背景 

2023 Fall主题 ：Empower, Don't Sour: Say No to Body Shaming

身体羞辱是一个复杂的问题,在许多社会中根深蒂固,往往是由文化规范、媒体描绘和社会对美的期待所延续的。它可以以众多方式呈现,并可能对个人的心理和身体健康产生严重影响。

身体羞辱的类型:

1. 体重和身材羞辱:这是最为人知的身体羞辱形式,羞辱超重或体重不足的个人。
2. 年龄羞辱:根据一个人的年龄批评其外表,比如指出皱纹或松弛的皮肤。
3. 身高羞辱:取笑某人过于高大或矮小。
4. 皮肤羞辱:因一个人的肤色、暗沉、瑕疵或其他皮肤状况而歧视他人。

关于身体羞辱,这里有一些额外细节:

• 据估计,高达80%的女性经历过某种程度的身体羞辱。但它影响着所有性别的人。
• 身体羞辱与更低的自尊、进食障碍、抑郁、社交焦虑和健康筛查的回避相关。
• 最常触发身体羞辱的评论涉及体重、身形、皮肤缺陷、身体比例、性或性别特征。
• 媒体推广的社会文化吸引力理想设置了近乎不可能被大多数人达到的不现实标准,助长身体不满。
• 创伤史、欺凌、青春期缺乏父母支持等因素会加剧身体羞辱倾向。
• 即使是来自朋友/家人细微、“有益”的关于体重或外表的评论也可能反而滋生羞辱感。
• 身体中立和欣赏运动旨在通过接纳多样性和注重健康、能力而不是仅仅外表的审美来反击狭隘的美感理想。

参与细则

 Social Justice Awards 参与要求 

- 活动题目 Prompts：

1. “No amount of self-improvement can make up for any lack of self-acceptance.” – Robert Holden. How do you understand this quote?

2. Examine how the 'ideal' body has changed throughout history and the role of societal pressures in body shaming.

3. Analyze the role media plays in perpetuating body shaming and how it can be used to promote body positivity instead.

4. Share a personal story or experience with body shaming and how it affected you or someone you know.

所有参与者必须从以上题目中选择一个作为作品主题，通过写作、艺术作品或演讲表达自己的观点。

参与条件 Entry Requirements

任何国家地区任何学校，且年龄在提交截止日期时未超过20岁的青少年均可参加。

写作作品要求 Writing Requirements

• 作品须以英语写成
• 叙事文或论文（600-2000词）；诗歌（不超过80行）
• 作品须为原创。如有引用他人作品，参与者必须包括文中引用以及参考文献。如发现有抄袭，参与者将被立即取消资格。不要在文中包括名字、家庭住址等任何个人信息。
• The work must be written in English
  Narratives or Essays (600-2000 words); Poetry (no more than 80 lines)
• Participants must complete their work originally. If other’s works are cited, participants must include in-textcitation and bibliography. Once the participant is found to plagiarized, he or she will be disqualified directly. Do not include any personal information, such as name, home address, etc

写作作品格式 Writing Formats

• MS Word文件（文件须小于20M）
• 作品题目必须置于作品第一页
• Times New Roman字体，12号字，2.0行距
• 如有参考，请使用文中引用及参考文献
• 文件名以姓名+类别组成（Sam Zhang, Writing）
• MS Word Format files (files less than 20 M)
• The title of the work must be placed at the first page of the article
• Times New Roman, 12-point type, double-spaced
• If there are references, please indicate the in-text citation and references
• The file is named by name + category (Sam Zhang, Writing) 

演讲作品要求 Speech Requirements

• 作品须以英语演讲
• 演讲时长不得超过5分钟
• 作品须为原创。如有引用他人作品，参与者必须包括文中引用以及参考文献。如发现有抄袭，参与者将被立即取消资格。不要在文中包括名字、家庭住址等任何个人信息。
• The speech must be done in English
• Video length must not exceed 5 minutes
• Participants must complete their work originally. Once the participant is found to plagiarized, he or she will be disqualified directly. Do not include any personal information, such as name, home address, etc

演讲作品格式 Speech Formats

• 作品以Word作为最终格式上传（例如：某参与作品为摄影/视频作品，则参与者可以先建立word文档，在文档中插入作品/视频链接, 例如bilibili，youtube etc.以及作品陈述后提交）
• 文件名由姓名+类别组成（keyi Lin, Speech）
• Videos will be uploaded in video link (e.g. bilibili, youtube etc.）
• The file is named by name + category (keyi Lin, Speech)

艺术作品要求 Art Requirements

• 漫画、音乐、设计、视频、绘画、插图、混合画、摄影、版画
• 作品须为原创。
• 参与者可以组成不超过2人的团队完成作品，或自己独自完成。
• 不要包括名字、家庭住址等任何个人信息
• 参与者须提交不少于100词的英文作品陈述
• Works in the form of comic art, music, design, video, painting and illustration, mixed media, photography, printmaking
• Participants must complete their work originally
• Participants can choose to complete the work in a group no more than 2 people, or they can choose to complete it by oneself
• Do not include any personal information, such as name, home address, etc
• Written reflection in English (artist’s statement) of more than 100 words is required

艺术作品格式 Art Format

• 视频请以视频链接形式（例如bilibili，youtube etc.）上传，其他作品以PDF作为最终格式上传（例如：某参与作品为摄影/视频作品，则参与者可以先建立word文档，在文档中插入作品/视频链接以及作品陈述，转换成PDF形式提交）
• 如有参考作品，请包含文中引用及参考文献
• 文件名由姓名+类别组成（An Li, Art）
• Videos will be uploaded in video link (e.g. bilibili, youtube etc.）, and other works will be uploaded in PDF type
• If there are references, please indicate the in-text citation and references
• The file is named by name + category (An Li, Art)

Junior Prize 参与要求  

Embracing Every Body. 

纵观历史,不同的身材和特征在各种文化中被理想化,延续着不现实的标准,这加剧了身体羞辱。嘲笑他人外表的行为,包括身材、体型、肤色或其他明显缺陷,是一种有害且普遍的文化现象,可能会给目标个体带来严重的情感和心理后果。

作为初中学生,你们的声音是强有力的变革推动者。通过你们的写作,探索身体羞辱的概念、它对个人和社会的影响,以及我们可以如何推广身体积极性和包容性。

活动题目 Prompts

1. Understanding Body Shaming. Define what body shaming is and provide examples of how it can manifest in everyday life. You can share personal experiences, observations, or stories you’ve heard.

2. Discuss how body shaming can impact individuals’ self-esteem, mental health, and overall well-being. Use real-life examples to highlight the emotional toll it can take on people.

3. Share ideas for promoting body positivity and self-love among your peers, family, and community. How can we create a more supportive environment that celebrates diversity in appearances?

所有参与者必须从以上题目中选择一个作为作品主题，通过写作表达自己的观点。

奖项设置 Awards

活动设有一等奖、二等奖、三等奖、入围奖以及特别大奖（Social Justice Awards 每个类别各1位，Junior Prize 1位）特别大奖得主将获得由Social Justice Watcher（SJW）颁发的1000元奖金

参与费用 Entry Fee

200人民币。所有收入将被用于项目运营以及其他非营利性活动。

• 写作与演讲比赛禁止组队
• 本次活动组委对活动结果拥有最终裁定权，不接受任何形式的复议。
